In November 2012 I had the privilege of co-hosting Dolce and Gabbana’s media launch for its new scent, “Desire,” for the international fashion press in St Petersburg, Russia.
The first day of the two-day event consisted of a presentation of the new scent — and a discussion of the erotic psychology of scent involving myself and the developers of the perfume.
On the second day, we continued the discussion with individual editors from the leading fashion magazines of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North and South America.
The event was covered in the international fashion press. But most of it was in Italian, so I couldn’t understand it completely.
For a doctor who spends most of his time behind closed doors in his office, it was a bit of a thrill to jet to St. Petersburg and get to meet people from the fashion world.
No, I didn’t get to meet Scarlett Johannson. But I got a chance to exchange ideas with some interesting people from the world of fashion and scent. And I discovered that as a sex therapist my work is not entirely different from theirs . . .
